BBC Radio Berkshire: The Shadows Life Story (CD) 11th June 2004
BBC Radio Wiltshire's Geoff Barker recently met up with Bruce Welch and Hank Marvin of The Shadows.

Listen to the interview. Legendary twangy guitar band The Shadows recently played at Bournemouth's International Centre and BBC Radio Wiltshire's resident rock n'n roll guru Geoff Barker was on hand to interview Bruce Welch & Hank Marvin from the band.

The Shadows, who started out as Cliff Richard's backing band - The Drifters have enjoyed a career spanning nearly 50 years in the music industry. In the early 60s the band became Britain's most successful instrumental group &
had a string of hits including 'Apache', 'F.B.I.' and 'Kon-Tiki'.

Their latest greatest hits double CD set 'Life Story' recently went gold in the UK album charts & the band's current 'farewell tour' has proved extremely popular on the live rock 'n' roll nostalgia circuit.

Earlier this month, Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch & Brian Bennett were each awarded an OBE, although Hank declined the honour.

Geoff Barker spoke to Bruce & Hank before their Bournemouth gig to look back over an amazing career, where he touched on the creation of their trademark sound & prised some interesting anecdotes from these elder statesmen of rock 'n' roll. Private Collection Label
